CAPE PENINSULA TOUR (full day)

Clifton & Camps Bay
Houtbay (boat trip optional)
Chapman's Peak Drive
Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve
Cape Point
Penguin Colony (Boulders)
Simons Town
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Beautiful beaches and picturesque nature reserves, Jackass penguins and unique vegetation; this tour takes in the scenic highlights of the Cape Peninsula.

The first stop is Clifton’s four famous bikini beaches, and Camps Bay’s beautiful stretch of sand at the foot of the Twelve Apostles mountain range. From there you travel to Hout Bay harbour, which is an important fishing port and also houses the Mariner’s Wharf fish market. Here you are given the option of a boat trip.

Leading from Hout Bay is the world famous Chapman’s Peak Drive, a beautiful road which runs along the cut line between the lower layers of Cape Granite and the upper layers of Table Mountain Sandstone.

The next port of call is the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, renowned for its extraordinary rich, diverse and unique flora known as the “Kaapse Fynbos”. At the tip of the reserve is Cape Point with its rugged cliffs and crashing waves far below. Nowhere else in the world does an area of such spectacular beauty and rich biodiversity exist almost within a metropolitan area.

Traveling back along the eastern coastline you stop at Boulders beach in Simons Town to visit one of the only two mainland Jackass penguin colonies. The town itself has many buildings which have been declared historical monuments, as well as a number of museums that are worth visiting.

The last stop on the tour is the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which were a gift from Cecil John Rhodes to the nation. This beautiful area was chosen for its well watered fertile slopes, and is used to collect and study the indigenous flora of Southern Africa.
